just wanted to let you know that community internet radio station GRATEFUL DREAD PUBLIC RADIO in summit, nj, is airing NIGHT TRANSMISSIONS every sunday night at 10pm. what a great show!
actually, I am. But I’ve been through a fairly rough time of late. Things are looking better now and I expect I’ll resume productions soon. I really do thank you for your continuing interest.
Gary
Gary, I was also worried about you. I discovered your show a few months ago and listen to it every night. I’m glad to hear you are o.k. and I wish you the very best! Deborah

Hi Gary, glad to hear your doing your normal good work for radio history. Best of all things for you and thanks for the shows.
Thanks, I’ll try to keep it up. I may miss a show or so in May when I have Cataracts removed from my eyes. Everyone says that it’s no big deal and many people go to work the next day. Guess I’m just a big Nancy boy. I’ve never had a surgery. I even still have my tonsils.
I found that I really missed you and your shows earlier this year during your hiatus. Glad that you are now doing well. I enjoy your sense of humor as well as your informative comments.
You are not a, “Nancy Boy”. Like you, I never had surgery in my 64 years until eye surgery 4 years ago and it worried me to death. The assisting nurse held my hand through the entire procedure!
I have been and RN for the last 20 years.
larry
Thank you Larry, this really does mean a lot to me. I’m glad you enjoy the show. I hope you continue to listen. It does encourage me(some may say that this is not a good thing). I know there are many places one can find these old radio shows, they are all over the Internet. I think is really a good thing. As is true for most pop culture, much of it is completely undistinguished but there is the occasional flash of brilliance.
And thanks for your kind words about my sense of humor, not everyone gets it.
Gary,
I sincerly hope your health or enthusiasim is not faltering. I have a fairly good collection of Radio Programs, but you and your format brings about a much more enjoyable listening pleasure. Thank you.
Respectfully
Jerry C.
My health is reasonably good. It isn’t that. Maybe that I just need a few weeks away from NightTransmissions after 105 shows and slightly over two years. I’ll continue to post repeats for two or three weeks. And then see how I feel about it.
Thanks for your input, sometimes they do forget that actual people are actually listening.
Hi Gary, I check the site every day hoping you have not given up. You are now as much a part of radio as Himan Brown but, we know little about you. We need a Gary Clinton focus episode (a mono log ) that would satisfy our curiosity. Your are missed. Hope all is well. People you do not know are thinking and praying for your health and happiness. “Until next time” this is hoping that night transmissions will continue.
Again, thanks Anthony. I have already scheduled repeats of the show to go through September. It is currently my intention to pick up again after that. That I am most likely going to do this is entirely due to a handful of folks like you and your encouragement.
Wishing you all the best and hope that you will continue on. I began to listen to old radio programs some four to five years ago after my health had declined to the point where I didn’t have the stamina to watch a monitor/TV screen. I began to collect programs and investigating their history, and noted numerous conflicts in dates and names (I presume you are aware of Digital Deli Too’s excellent work:
sorry to be so slow in responding to your comment Bern. To some extent I just didn’t know what to say to such high praise.
What to say?
Thank you, thank you thank you.
yes, I am aware of the Digital Deli website. It is terrific. I need to link to them more often on the NightTransmissions website. They are a primary resource in my own research into these programs (I try not to steal from them too flagrantly. It’s hard, they do such excellent work).
Gary
Just wanted you to know that I am still listening and enjoying your show. Out of the many similar podcasts available yours has the most comfortable feel. Now that I have listened to all your shows I am going back to relisten as your comments make them fun. Keep it up.
Thanks, if I want anything for NightTransmissions it is that it have a comfortable feeling to it. I want it to feel like friends getting together. I appreciate every single communication from you guys.that helps to engender a feeling of community I think. And without that, what would be the point. This is how I want my podcast to be different than other podcasts.
hope that doesn’t sound to self-aggrandizing.
Gary
I have been a huge fan of old radio shows since I was 4 years old in 1974. I always enjoyed listening before going to bed each night. Now I have grown to love podcasts and mp3 formats since they are more mobile to listen to when you want to hear them.
I just started on your podcast and I love that its 2 hours. Nobody will touch a 2 hour podcast, may 1 hour but thats it. And the biggest difference I find with yours is you have a vast knowledge of each and every show. I just listened to the Avengers last night and loved how you pieced the short segments into an hour long show. I hope there are many more to come.
While I’m sending you this message, I was wondering if you remembered a radio broadcast that I think was the Campbells Studio Playhouse or some other 1 hour show that was a science fiction story. It was about a man who build a robot, and then soon afterwards, the robot built other similar robots to do chores around the house and other things. Pretty soon there was a lot of robots and I can tell you it was a happy sorta science fiction story. I have searched everywhere for years trying to locate this broadcast.
Thanks again and please continue to broadcast!!!!!!!
Glad to hear from you! also glad for your suggestion about the old show. The Internet Archive seems to have most of the Campbells Playhouse Theater(http://www.archive.org/details/otr_campbellplayhouse) but I don’t see anything that sounds like it could be your show. If you have a moment and want to take a hop over there and look over the titles to see if anything rings a bell… And if something does be sure to drop me a line. This program something is exactly like something I would like to hear and included in the podcast. In the meantime I will continue to look around a bit.
About The Avengers. I think there were around 17 of these and it looks like I’ve done nine (seems to me like I’ve actually Done more but that’s what a search on the site shows.) So there are more to come. I have been thinking that when I take some time off this summer (probably about six weeks) I might very well rerun strictly shows that have the avengers in them. I guess I wouldn’t say The Avengers is my favorite show but I can’t think of one offhand that I like any better; There may be two or three I like as well however.
There are episodes of the avengers in:
show 18
show 122
show 33
show 3
Show 110
show 10
show 86
show 98
Dear Mr. Clinton,
I want to thank you so much for the wonderful job you do sending out these excellent shows. I often listen to each one multiple times. I see you were using a little artistic license about the fact that you haven’t gotten ANY feedback , for which I’m thankful! I’m glad other people are sending encouraging words to you every once in a while.
Hope all the problems you’ve been having are behind you.
thanks, Pam in Albuquerque
Thanks for your show of concern Pam. Yeah you’re right, I am using, “a little artistic license” when I claim that I never hear from anybody. Really, We are a small and select group, those of us involved with NightTransmissions. I’m not really sure how many people listen. I know that each show gets about 125 downloads from the Internet Archive where I post the programs. I have occasionally heard from low-power FM stations that they are broadcasting the show; And from a couple of Internet broadcasters that they are also streaming the show. (Maybe five in total, streamers and stations. So probably we’re doing pretty well as far as listener involvement is concerned. And I’m damn glad of it.
PS. Thank you for being kind enough to call it, “using a little artistic license” rather than calling me a damnable liar.
Not sure if message went through, high failure rate tonight ….
Have another version of the robots, robots story but not at home so can’t dig it up …. Great sci-fi screwball comedy, modern Sorcerer’s Apprentice story (Disney version) with Mickey and his multiple brooms.
Keep up the good work!
bern
Hey Bren;
It does look like some portion of this message did get lost. Could you tell us again a bit more about this story. Maybe even post a link if you can.

This may be in fact the robot episode I have been searching for over 15+ years. Thanks for posting this and I cannot wait to hear this. Robot episodes are by far the best when it comes to scifi radio. It adds a bit of creepiness which I love.
Much appreciated. And as always, Gary….keep this going please. I have no other life since the Toronto maple leafs are not doing much this year.
Hey, this is so cool!
It is exactly the sort of thing that I had hoped for. People making suggestions about programming and other people responding. If we can figure this out, I’d sure like to present this show to the rest of us.
Please keep us in the loop.
Regards, from me and everybody else (I don’t think I’m too far out of line here, speaking for everybody this way).
Sure can Todd.
Expected it next Saturday at the top of show 129. I just have to figure out which one of the several versions I have in my collection to use.
Right now I’m listening to the Armed Forces version. Nearly as I can tell the only real difference is the intro. which is a bit different than the standard one. I think that might be interesting. The sound quality is quite good. I haven’t finished it yet but unless something comes up something wrong with the recording I think that’s the one I’ll use. There’s also a Jack Benny show with the same title, probably no connection. But I’ll check it out just in case it’s a satire or something. Did you catch the spoof of “The Whistler” from a couple of months ago. If you missed that one, let me know and I’ll find a link to that Jack Benny show and post it here.
Thanks much Gary. I did hear the Jack Benny spoof of The Whistler. Jack Benny has always been one of my favorite comedy shows, as well as Amos and Andy. I have to tell you that Suspense by far has always been my show of choice, primarily because of the special guest stars and storylines. If you ever get a chance, try to listen to the Suspense epsiode with Fibber McGee and Molly. I bet you will enjoy it.
Best Regards and thanks for taking my request,
